Wireless Headsets For Use In The Home

The extensive choice of headsets for use in the home offers flexibility and the ability to multi-task allowing the user to maximise their time. Wireless headsets enable the user to talk on the phone and roam the house, or garden for that matter, or carry on typing at the computer whilst taking a phone call. Essentially they enable the user to be hands free. There are several different categories on the market including corded, wireless, Bluetooth, gaming, computer and mobile phone headsets.

Corded headsets are available in a choice of single ear piece and double ear piece styles, over the head or in the ear as well as behind the neck. For use with a computer, connection is simple and via a USB port or sound card socket. Available with stereo sound, these headsets often have the additional feature of accentuated bass which is invaluable for gaming purposes. For use with a corded phone, connection is directly into a headset compatible phone or through an amplifier where a non-compatible phone is used. Although they do not offer the versatility of cordless headsets they are more economically priced.

Wireless headsets can be used with both DECT and Bluetooth equipment. Wireless connection can be made to PCs, corded and cordless DECT phones and mobile phones. Roaming range is up to 100 metres with a talk time availability of 9 hours. There are wireless Bluetooth models for use with mobile phones as well as for gaming purposes. Additional features include noise reduction. Bluetooth headsets are available in a choice of monoaural and biaural styles, as over the head or in the ear models, which include call on/call off buttons and volume control switches. Bluetooth wireless headsets also enable the user to chat online via a computer as well as listen to music. They produce superior sound quality. The majority of models provide a roaming distance of around 10 metres but there are some on the market offering a distance of 100 metres.

Gaming headsets specialise in the particular qualities required by the serious gamer. These include deep bass effect and amplified vibration for the ultimate gaming experience. Many models provide directional sound quality to enable the player to sonically identify and locate movement. Comfort is also of paramount importance for extensive playing time. Some models are available with soft, spongy earpieces and headbands and some earpieces are swivel-jointed for additional user comfort. Padded earpieces provide additional background noise filtration. Headsets come with removable or adjustable microphone, with optional availability of positioning on the left or right. Improved sound sensitivity offers increased voice command clarity, a feature that is vital when communicating with other players. Gaming headsets are available in monaural and biaural, with over the head, back of the neck and in the ear styles. Most gaming headsets are compatible with MP3, DVD and CD players.
