Toshiba Regza SV 46 inch LED TV

The Toshiba Regza range represents the more affordable end of the HDTV spectrum produced by the Japanese giant, but the new SV series televisions offers class-topping performance and cutting edge technology to shake off any image as the value brand.

There are a few LED TVs now on the market, but the Regza SV boasts something special: LED Local Dimming. This is essentially an improved backlighting technique which allows the darker areas of the picture to actually reflect their truly black nature as the LEDs lighting that particular portion of the screen will be dimmed. Toshiba claims that the system has an excellent response time and also allows the Regza SV to have most accurate black replication of any HDTV using LCD display technology.

Powering the various features of the Regza SV is something Toshiba calls Meta Brain. This is essentially a marketing friendly name for the processing chip, but it does allow for some decent features such as Resolution Plus, which is an advanced upscaling processes that aims to make standard definition content look virtually identical to HD with smoother edges and improved textures.

The Regza SV 46 inch supports full HD 1080p and has the same minimalist, wall-friendly slim design that you should expect from most LED TVs, many of which will be at higher price points.
