The Innovative Sony HDR-SR7E Camcorder

A light and compact high-definition camcorder, with a 60GB hard disk drive and all the latest sony technology to deliver footage of exceptional quality and clarity.

Superb Image Quality

The Sony HDR-SR7E features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with a 10x optical zoom range, allowing you to shoot both near and far subjects with wonderful clarity and depth. For enhanced picture stability when shooting in slow shutter mode, Sony has included the Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation which also helps to produce crisp, blur-free images when using the still shooting mode. Still images can have up to 6.1 Megapixels resolution, or 4.6 Megapixels when using the clever Dual Rec mode which allows still images to be shot without interrupting video shooting.

Colour Technology

Expect natural, life-like colour reproduction when using the Sony HDR-SR7E which can reproduce twice as many colours when compared to other more conventional camcorders. As a result your footage will have unparalleled detail and fantastic tonal reproduction, particularly when viewed on xvYCC compliant televisions and Blu-ray players.

Enhanced Imaging Processor

Sony’s AVCHD format ensures this camcorder captures High Definition 1080 images with beautiful vibrancy and depth. The HDR-SR7E has a ClearVid CMOS sensor with Enhanced Imaging Processor which provides superb dynamic range and reduced smear. This camcorder also has outstanding sensitivity with a minimum illumination of just 2 lux (with Auto Slow Shutter “ON”) allowing you to continue shooting footage in twilight or poorly-lit conditions.

Hard Drive Storage

The Sony HDR-SR7E may be small but it has an impressive 60GB hard drive capacity to allow up to 22 hours of footage to be stored (in LP mode). Powered by Sony’s AVCHD compression technology, long recording periods at brilliant High Definition picture quality are worry and hassle-free as you do not have to rely on tapes or discs. The variable Bit Rate recording feature offers high compression efficiency by adjusting bit rates and assessing the optimal picture quality with maximum storage efficiency.

Face Detection Technology

The HDR-SR series is the first range of camcorders to feature Sony’s ‘Face Index’ which utilises Face Detection Technology; this clever function makes it easy to find ‘people pictures’ from a scene of continuously shot footage. The HDR-SR7E will automatically identify scenes that contain faces and will produce thumbnail images so you can simply browse the scenes to find footage of friends and family – just use the touch-screen to make your selection and play the clip.

Automatic Indexing

To make finding footage easy, the HDR-SR7E’s ‘Visual Index’ divides recordings into suitable chapters based on each press of the Record Start button, and creates and displays thumbnail images on the touch-screen for quick reference. The ‘Film Roll Index’ will automatically create scene index points within each recorded chapter at your own defined intervals, from 3 seconds to 5 minutes.

PC Compatibility

The Sony HDR-SR7E has been designed to make it easy to transfer your videos onto a PC or DVD. The Handycam Station includes ‘One Touch Disc Burn’ – simply press one button and your footage will automatically be transferred to a connected PC. The ‘Easy PC Back-up’ feature will intelligently detect and transfer files that have not previously been saved so you do not have to worry about losing memorable videos.
