Exceptional Picture Clarity
The HDR-SR5E features Sony’s ClearVid CMOS sensor and Enhanced Imaging Processor which produces outstanding dynamic range and reduced smear for wonderfully clear footage. The x.v.Colour technology ensures your videos retain life-like colour reproduction with nearly double the range of colours compared to that of conventional camcorders. The results are vivid, accurate tonal reproduction with beautiful detail. This camcorder also shoots successfully in poor light or twilight thanks to the high sensitivity, with a minimum illumination of only 2 lux.
The Latest Sony Technology
Distant images are easy to capture in excellent clarity due to the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens which features an impressive 10x optical zoom range. The Sony HDR-SR5E is the first camcorder to feature Sony’s innovative ‘Face Index’ which uses Face Detection Technology to quickly and easily find ‘people pictures’ within a scene of continuously shot footage. The camcorder will automatically identify scenes from your video containing faces which then appear as thumbnail images, so you can browse scenes featuring a friend or member of your family; then simply touch the screen to play the clip.
Long Recording Duration
Despite its small size, the Sony HDR-SR5E’s 40GB disk allows you to shoot for up to 15 hours in LP mode. Sony’s powerful AVCHD compression technology allows enables the user to record for longer in perfect High Definition quality. In addition to the high compression efficiency, the camcorder’s variable Bit Rate adjusts the bit rates whilst shooting, to balance the optimum picture quality with maximum storage efficiency.
Fast, Smart Scene Search
The Sony HDR-SR5E’s ‘Visual Index’ divides your footage into handy chapters that relate to each press of the Record Start button. The camcorder then automatically creates and displays thumbnail images for each chapter so you can quickly find the footage you are looking for. You can also use Sony’s ‘Film Roll Index’ to create scene index points at selected intervals from 3 seconds to 5 minutes within recorded chapters – just use the touch-screen to find the correct scene.
Easy-to-use
Despite being packed with technology, the Sony HDR-SR5E is incredibly straightforward to operate. The simple function navigation on the touch-screen and direct playback buttons make it easy to set-up shots and review your footage. The Picture Motion Browser software (included) makes it easy to transfer and manage footage on your PC. ‘Highlight’ searches will identify brightly-lit, colourful scenes with voices – a great way to quickly find shots from down the beach, concerts and other events; whilst ‘Date Index’ will search for scenes according to the shooting date. And for complete peace of mind, the ‘Easy PC Back-up’ feature automatically detects, stores, and transfers files that are not already saved on your computer’s hard drive.
