Outstanding Image Performance

The Sony HDR-HC5E uses the latest-generation ClearVid CMOS Sensor technology to produce High Definition pictures (HDV 1080i) with improved resolution and sensitivity, wider dynamic range and reduced smear. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens further enhances the image quality and allows you to confidently shoot up to 4 Megapixel still images, whilst the 10x Optical Zoom and 80x Digital Zoom, you can accurately shoot both near and far subjects.

The Auto Slow Shutter function automatically boosts minimum illumination performance to 2 lux, letting you continue shooting in low light conditions; in addition, the Super NightShot setting permits shooting in poor light right down to 0 lux. The built-in flash provides greater flexibility when shooting still photography, and an Auto Lens Cover slides shut to protect the Carl Zeiss lens when the camcorder is not in use.

Natural, Lifelike Colours

Featuring the Sony-developed technology, x.v.Colour, the HDR-HC5E produces images with almost double the range of colours that can be accurately reproduced by other video devices, to cover nearly 100 percent of natural colours. By closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye, x.v.Colour reproduces more real reds, blues and greens beyond the limitations of the conventional sRGB colour space. x.v.Colour is also compatible with televisions and other display devices that support the xvYCC standard to maximise the picture quality and lifelike colours in your movies.

Clear Photo LCD Plus Screen

The Sony HDR-HC5E makes it easy to compose and review your shots – even outdoors in bright light – thanks to the 2.7 inch flip-out screen that uses Clear Photo LCD plus technology. With a wider colour range and enhanced contrast compared to normal hybrid screens, you can instantly check the quality of your footage. Handily, additional zoom and recording start/stop buttons are located on the screen’s frame which is particularly useful when operating the camcorder at waist level or on a tripod.

Experience Full HD Quality

With full 1080-line HD resolution, the Sony HDR-HC5E can be connected to any HD Ready display via the HDMI connector so you can enjoy your videos in outstanding quality. The iLINK cable and software (included) allow you to edit your footage on a connected PC so you can create the perfect movie. You can even use the Dual Rec option to simultaneously capture high resolution still images during movie recording, so you can preserve special memories in HD video and in beautiful photos.
