The Sony HDR-FX1 High Definition 1080i Camcorder

Designed for experienced videographers, this High Definition Handycam offers outstanding picture quality and a wide range of manual features for complete control and enhanced creativity.

Crisp and Clear Image Resolution

The Sony HDR-FX1 has 3 x 1 Megapixel CCDs and a total resolution of 1,070,000 pixels, for exceptional quality videos, even in low light conditions. Teamed with the acclaimed Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 12x optical zoom lens, you can easily shoot and capture both near and far subjects without compromising the picture resolution. In addition, Sony’s Optical Image Stabiliser technology reduces the effects of hand-shake that can cause blurred images – particularly when shooting at high zoom settings or in poor light.

High Definition Recording

The Sony HDR-FX1 uses MPEG-2 as its compression format to record HD video on widely available MiniDV tapes; the results are fantastic video and sound quality. The depth and accuracy of the colours can only really be experienced when viewing your footage on an HD-ready television. Users have the ability to switch between HDV and DV, which is useful for playing back on Standard Definition (SD) monitors.

Advanced Functionality

Users can manually control the zoom, focus, white balance, shutter speed and other functions to fine-tune the camcorders settings. For those that are happy for the HDR-FX1 to do most of the hard work, the Backlight, Spotlight and Shot Transition features are useful to quickly change the camera’s setting depending on the conditions and effects you are trying to achieve. Up to six Picture Profiles can be created to swiftly switch between different looks and settings; in addition three user-assignable buttons and a P-Menu allow you to set and store the options you use most frequently.

3.5-inch Hybrid LCD Screen

The extremely high-resolution (250,000 pixels) 3.5-inch LCD swivel screen makes it easy to accurately frame, shoot, and review your footage even in bright sunlight. Select the Expanded Focus setting and the screen image is magnified to allow you to precisely focus on your subject.
