Sony Ericsson W205

Sony Ericsson are one of the most respected mobile handset manufacturers on the market, and with the W205 they are hoping to enhance that reputation. The design follows much of the same stylish design as other Sony Ericsson’s, with a slide opening casing hosting a wide range of multimedia buttons, before sliding back to reveal the traditional mobile keyboard most of us will be used to.

This set up means that the phone is very compact and stylish, meaning it is easy for you to carry around without an issue – measuring just 92mm by 47mm and an impressive 16.4mm deep (all when closed) – a very small phone indeed.

As part of the Sony Walkman range of mobile phones it comes as no surprise that the W205 is very multimedia focussed. It has built in radio and MP3 Player, with a wide selection of methods to connecting to your computer to update the music list on your phone – including blue-tooth and wire transfer.

The W205 also comes with a must have for music fans everywhere – TrackID is a software that allows you to find out information on any song that is playing. Simply play any small clip of a song (or turn it on if a song is playing somewhere) and it will provide you with a whole host of information – including the name of the song, the artist and the album. It also supports polyphonic ring tones allowing you to use any MP3 as a ringtone should you want to.

The multimedia features include many other factors. There is a 1.3 mega-pixel camera for capturing photo’s and video. The phone has full java capability so gaming is high quality – and there are many downloads available for those who enjoy to game on their mobile.

The screen is of good quality for gaming and video – a 1.8 inch TFT screen, which is clear and well positioned. It is also a very colourful screen, literally – with over 65,000 colours displayed.

You’ll quickly see why the W205 is a popular mobile phone, it comes with a large screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, 2.2 digital zoom, walkman music player, video recording, a large memory and so much more and all these features are built into this tiny little phone. It’s easy to see why this phone is one that is both practical and popular with users of all ages.

The W205 is also able to browse the Internet, using the Opera web browser to allow the user to surf the net. EDGE technology also enables high speed data downloads and transfers. Which helps a lot considering the amount of transfer needed when you are using the MP3 player! Blue-tooth technology also enables seamless and swift transfer of files.

These days there are more up to date phones on the market but the Sony W205 still holds it on when it comes to music and style.
