Sony Ericsson Satio
The Sony Ericsson Satio is one of the latest in big name mobile phones to hit the market and is being held up by many to be one of the real trail blazers in the next generation of mobile phones. It makes a real effort to make digital cameras obsolete by integrating a 12 mega pixel camera into the phone. A step in the direction of combining all your disparate devices into one useful phone! But how does the Satio measure up to other phones?
Sony mobile phones tend to have a very distinctive, curvaceous, quality to them when it comes to design, and the Satio is no exception, in particular it bears a striking resemblance to the Sony Ericsson C905, which is certainly no bad thing as far as we are concerned!
The good news is that as well as being stylish it is strongly built, able to withstand rough handling from users (always a useful trait in a mobile phone).
Sony Ericsson Satio Facts and Stats
Of course a mobile phone is not just about how it looks, it is much more than that – especially considering how hard Sony seem to be pushing the 12 mega-pixel camera angle. So what are the full specs of the Sony Ericsson Satio?
The Sony Ericsson Satio has a 12.1-mega-pixel camera, Xenon flash, up to 12x digital zoom, auto focus, face detection, geo tagging of photos, image stabilizer, smile detection, video recording and so much more. This list puts it as at least comparable to any other mobile phone on the market, and the camera really does set it apart. But how do the other aspects perform? Can it perform more than just a camera that makes calls?
The phone has access to Sony’s new Play Now interface. This is a very similar style online shop and portal to Apple’s iTunes – and comes with many of the same impressive features. You will be able to download music, games, themes and applications with just a few touches of the button.
It is also the place to download shows and movies – and with the screen of the Sony Satio that becomes a very viable option now. It has a 3.5” nHD TFT screen which is more than enough to use as a viewing portal for anything that you want to watch. In addition to this the multimedia functions are numerous with MP3, blue-tooth stereo and much more.
There is a downside to this phone, one that doesn’t seem to make sense. The phone only comes with 128 meg of internal memory space. Considering all the options for downloads available via Play Now this doesn’t make sense, and seeing as how important phone space is, especially with a 12 mega-pixel camera as the main selling point, it makes little sense to limit internal space like that. Taking that into account though it is still a very impressive phone, and will no doubt make a big splash in the market – just remember to pick up an SD memory card if you decide to get this latest offering from Sony.
