Sony DSLR-A230

In May 2009, the Sony Alpha 200 was phased out after the introduction of the new Sony DSLR-A230. Other models that were faced out include the Alpha 300 and 350 that were replaced by the Sony DSLR-A330 and Sony DSLR-A350 during the same period.

The new Sony DSLR-A230 offers restyled new ergonomics and an easy to use interface but at the same time retains the underlying specifications of the preceding model, the Sony Alpha 200. By taking first steps in DSLR photography – Digital Single Lens Reflex – the new cameras are designed to overcome challenges faced by many customers. The difference between the DSLR and the traditional SLR is that the DSLR does not need film.

The new Sony DSLR-A230 is smaller, lighter in weight, and easier to use and offer innovative options not found in other systems. The new camera features a 2.7 inch (diagonally), LCD screen that is easy to view anytime even in bright sunlight. You will find an increase in the range as compared to its predecessor hence it makes it easier for one to get shots even from tight angles. The Sony DSLR-A230 comes with a camera-and-lens package. The cameras include a dedicate slots for high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo. The Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo and SD/DSHC media are sold separately.

Users can also combine the Quick AF Live View and the adjustable LCD hence they can frame the scene without holding the camera in from of their face. The Sony DSLR-A230 has an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) terminal which can enable one to connect the camera to a compatible HDTV and play back your images in high definition quality. It is also the first Sony DSLR camera to feature a graphical user interface (GUI) with a built-in on-screen guide.

Some of the unique specifications for this camera are; the camera weighs 452g without a battery. It has 10.8MP, a sensor shake system, and static-free, anti-dust coating. The camera has an inbuilt steady shot stabilization. The image sizes range from 1920×1088 to 3872×2592. The image quality includes JPEG normal, JPEG fine, RAW and RAW + JPEG. The color space is RGB and Adobe RGB. It has a shutter speed of between 30 and 1/4000 sec. The Sony DSLR-A230 provides for a video, HDMI and USB 2.0 connectivity. It has a memory stick slot of Pro Duo and also SD/ SDHC cards. It uses the lithium-Ion battery pack.

The Sony DSLR-A230 comes with the following accessories; Software CD-ROM, body cap, video cable, shoulder strap, BC-VH1 Battery Charger as well as NP-FH50 rechargeable battery. The Sony DSLR-A450Y really does come with everything built in, the software that you get allows you to transfer your photos over to your computer with ease and allows you to share them online with just one click. It may also be worth spending a little money buying a case for the camera too considering this is a very addition.
