Sony DSLR-A100 Digital Camera Review
The Impressive Sony DSLR A100 Digital SLR
With 10.2 effective megapixels and all the latest Sony technology, the A100 produces images of exceptional quality, whilst being practical and easy-to-use.
Advanced Image Control
The DSLR A100 offers the user complete control with three image size settings and both fine and standard compression options, which are recorded as JPEGs (although RAW format is also available). The sophisticated Sony A100 has four advanced exposure modes and six different scene modes (Landscape, Portrait, Sports, Sunset, Night portrait and Macro), plus an Auto mode for beautifully exposed pictures no matter what the shooting conditions are. In addition, the user can select one of the numerous colour modes, including Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset and Night view to produce really creative images without having to manually adjust the camera settings.
Superior In-camera Technology
High sensitivity shooting is no problem for the DSLR-A100, thanks to Sony’s Super SteadyShot Image Stabilisation system which automatically minimises picture blur that can be caused by camera shake or when shooting fast-moving subjects. The A100 has seven different ISO speeds ranging from 80 to 1600, allowing you to continue shooting in low light without the flash or when a tripod is not practical. You will be impressed by the results: clear and sharp images that perfectly capture any scene. Picture quality is further enhanced by Sony’s Dynamic Range Optimiser, which automatically increases detail in dark and bright areas of images; whilst the Bionz Image Processor improves the camera’s response time, to help minimise blur.
Eye-Start Auto-focus
The intelligent DSLR-A100 features the innovative Eye-Start auto-focus system, which begins precision auto-focus adjustments as soon as your eye moves in front of the viewfinder, rather than waiting until the shutter button is depressed like other cameras. This is invaluable when shooting fast-action subjects which can blur if not correctly focused. The A100 has five different focusing modes, and nine auto-focus points which can be selected automatically or manually, for crisp and perfectly focused images.
Immediately Enjoy Your Shots
With a 2.5” Clear Photo LCD Plus Screen, the DSLR-A100 is straightforward to use with easy to read setup menus, plus the anti-reflective coating allows you to set up and review your shots in bright sunlight. The A100 features Sony’s DPOF and PRINT Image Matching III software which allows you to configure options for printing your images; then simply print to any compatible printer using the PictBridge technology.
Fantastic Accessory Range
The Sony DSLR-A100 camera is compatible with a range of Sony accessories and the latest lenses, including precision Sony standard and zoom lenses, Sony “G” Series lenses with advanced motorised auto-focusing, and professional-quality flash units. The anti-dust protection system keeps the CCD imager clean, by preventing dust form settling on the sensor when the lens is changed; plus an anti-dust vibration automatically shakes the sensor to dislodge dust every time the A100 is turned off.
