Sony DCR-SR210E Camcorder Review
The Impressive Sony DCR-SR210E HDD Handycam
The Sony SR210E allows you to record up to 41 hours of high quality video and up to 4 Megapixel still images directly onto the 60GB high capacity hard disk drive, without having to carry additional tapes or discs.
Fantastic Picture Quality
The DCR-SR210E features a ClearVid CMOS sensor which includes Exmor derived technology for ultra high resolution and high sensitivity shooting, with reduced noise. In addition, Sony’s BIONZ image processor offers high-speed signal processing to guarantee your shots are perfect every time. The Advanced Dual Rec mode allows you to simultaneously capture 3.0 Megapixel still photos whilst continuing to record movies, so you can enjoy both high quality video and photographic memories.
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens
The powerful Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens has a 15x optical zoom and additional 180x digital zoom, allowing you to capture both near and far images in beautiful clarity and fine detail. The DCR-SR210E Handycam uses Sony’s Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation technology to enhance the picture quality by reducing the effects of camera shake; this is particularly relevant when shooting at high zoom settings or in low light conditions. When shooting tricky backlit scenes, the D-Range Optimiser automatically adjusts the exposure and contrast to produce well-exposed pictures every time.
Innovative Sony Technology
Sony’s innovative Face Detection technology automatically adjusts the focus, exposure and tonal colours within a frame to create clever, natural-looking faces. This combines with the Face Index searching feature to produce thumbnail images of faces on the touchscreen; you can then tap the LCD screen to play your chosen scene. The DCR-SR210E can record 5.1 surround sound and includes a zoom mic allowing clear recording of dialogue and foreground sound, without the need for an additional microphone.
Easy-to-Use Functionality
The SR210E has a 2.7-inch Wide Clear Photo LCD Plus touchscreen, which allows you to easily set-up, view, and review your shots in perfect contrast – even in bright sunlight. A Quick ON button quickly starts-up the camcorder from sleep mode, ensuring you do miss that vital shot! When reviewing your material, the Face Index and Film Roll Index make it is easy to find specific scenes. The Film Roll Index lets you search scenes within each recorded chapter at your own defined intervals, from 3 seconds to 5 minutes.
Handycam Station
Sony’s Handycam Station is included with the DCR-SR210E and allows you to quickly and easily connect the camcorder to your TV or PC via the analogue and Hi-Speed USB connectors. The One-Touch Disc Burn function records an hour’s worth of video onto DVD via a connected PC in around 20 minutes, so you can quickly share and save your videos.

Not really a comment but I found this an interesting and helpful review. Please can you tell me if it is Mac compatible? Your advice much appreciated.
According to the Sony site, the DCR-SR210E is not compatible with i.Link and so, unfortunately, this means it’s not compatible with an Apple Mac.
