Sony’s latest incarnation of the popular Cyber-shot W-Series, the W170, combines remarkable High-Definition image quality with impressive functionality and contemporary looks.
Exceptional Image Quality
With 10.1 effective megapixels and a high-quality Carl Zeiss wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom, the Cyber-shot W170 produces fantastic high quality images no matter what the shooting conditions. The Intelligent Scene Recognition technology selects the correct camera settings for a pre-set range of shooting situations; however, to ensure you capture the perfect image, select Advanced mode and the camera will automatically take two shots – one with standard automatic settings and the other with optimised settings – so you can choose the best.
Intelligent Sony Technology
Despite its small size, the Cyber-shot W170 is packed full with Sony’s powerful technological features. The BIONZ image processor powers the Face Detection feature which tracks faces and differentiates those that are further away from the camera. It can even distinguish between children and adults, and will adjust the exposure, skin tone and red-eye reduction to ensure beautiful portraits of any subject. This combines with the clever Smile Shutter function, which automatically fires the shutter when your subject is smiling; in addition the new Smile Level setting lets you fine-tune the threshold before each shot, from a relaxed smile to a huge grin.
Natural Images
The Cyber-shot W170’s BIONZ processor also powers the D-Range Optimiser which automatically adjusts the exposure and contrast to produce natural-looking images; it is particularly effective in handling awkward backlit scenes where high and low light detail can be lost. Poor lighting isn’t a problem for the Cyber-shot W170, with a maximum ISO 3200 sensitivity rating and Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation, you can successfully take handheld photos without the flash knowing that your images will be clear and blur-free.
Easy-to-use Camera
The large, bright 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD has a remarkable resolution and contrast, allowing you to use it in bright sunlight. The Cyber-shot W170 features a simple on-screen function guide and Easy Shooting mode to advise beginner photographers on the various camera settings. When you are ready to share your images with friends and family, simply connect the camera to any HD Ready television to view your photos in exceptional clarity and depth.
