Samsung Wave

Samsung has announced the first mobile phone in the world to be DivX certified where HD video playback at 720p resolution is concerned. The Samsung Wave will run on the Samsung Bada platform, which is their new smartphone platform.

Samsung will be working inconjunction with DivX on HD Certification, along with working on the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S, which is a new Android powered device.

One thing that will be interesting is how we will cope with the challenges of memory. As we all know, video is space hungry and as such, requires more storage space than is generally available at the moment. So will we all be buying additional memory cards or will the mobile phone manufacturers be catering for this in some way?

One other question facing the manufacturers is whether they will be providing HDMI connectivity for the Samsung Wave and other Smartphones in the future. What do you think?

The Samsung Wave will wear with pride its DivX Certified logo but only time will tell if it will live up to the standards expected.
