Nokia 6500

The 6500 is Nokia’s first effort at creating a slim 3G phone that is available on worldwide markets (rather than trial, nation specific ones). It is a stylish, aluminium cased phone that is available in both Black and Bronze, so allowing you the choice of how you like your metals, which is nice.

Interestingly Nokia also claim the casing is individually polished – but since we never polish metal we wouldn’t know what that looks like anyway!

One of the most important features of the Nokia 6500 slide is in fact hidden away. As a slide phone the 6500 keeps the keyboard hidden in on itself until someone slides it out – and this is a keyboard that is very well designed, ergonomically designed in fact! Easy to use, well spaced and not likely to have your fingers accidentally pushing the wrong buttons – the keyboard is a very good on in an industry that often seems to forget the importance of the keyboard.

The navigation buttons are also well designed and easy to use, sitting on the front of the 6500 slide phone, even when the keyboard is tucked away. This allows you quick access to basic functionality on things like the built in MP3 player.

The ultra high resolution LCD screen is very impressive, having 16 million colour display technology able to give you the best possible picture quality. Since the screen is also 2.2 inches it is actually a very large screen indeed.

Mobile phones these days need a multimedia feature list that would put most music studios to shame, and the Nokia 6500 slide is no exception. A 3.2 mega pixel camera ensures you are able to take both photos and videos should you desire it, pretty much an essential for a mobile these days.

A good MP3 system as well as integrated radio means that you can listen to music, audio books or your favourite radio stations right from your mobile. The 6500 slide also connects easily to your computer from the USB or via blue-tooth. Interestingly the 6500 slide comes with adobe photoshop software – so that you can now alter and play with images direct from your phone, leading to many ‘interesting’ photos where people have been ‘photo-shopped’ into all kinds of unlikely scenarios.

Some of the key specifications that the Nokia 6500 include is 3G technology, a beautiful 2.2 inch screen, clear and crisp video recording, a 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio and a huge built in memory. The 6500 Slide comes with an expandable memory option, going up to a very impressive 4GB of memory if needed, which will hold thousands of songs and videos.

As a 3G phone the 6500 Slide is ready to go on the internet, using the powerful Opera browser to allow the user to surf the internet at high speed, any time and pretty much anywhere (coverage allowing). The Nokia 6500 slide is an impressive phone, both in design and usage.
