Nintendo has helped sell more PS3 & Xbox 360 games. Ok, I’d better explain before you think I’m mad and then stop reading. The Nintendo Wii has without doubt been a massive success. One of the reasons and one of the main differences to both the PS3 and the Xbox is that the Nintendo appeals to parents. People who probably haven’t previously experienced gaming - except for buying them for their children. And in that point, is the reason for my opening line.

By experiencing the Nintendo Wii first hand, they have become more familiar with gaming. They have in turn responded more positively to the, no doubt numerous, requests for new PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Through the Nintendo Wii, gaming has become a legitimate family entertainment.

As parents become involved with gaming, they become more familiar with the ‘add-on’ benefits of other games consoles. For example, the Sony PSP & the Nintendo DS are rather adept at keeping children quiet - or at least entertained - on long journeys. Also, the Sony Playstation 3 is a cost effective way of buying a Blu-Ray player, not to mention the fact that it also plays DVDs and CDs.

For the more technical minded, the next generation of multi-media benefits are being seen here too. These consoles are more than just toys. They are fundamentally multi-media servers capable of storing all your various digital content such as digital photographs, podcasts, downloaded music, films and tv shows.

I can’t wait for the next generation consoles, PS4 maybe, but my bank balance can!
