This Compaq laptop is the entry level model in the extensive CQ71-400 range and it benefits from the inclusion of a large, bright screen. The screen measures 17.3 inches across the diagonal, which is considerably larger than most other laptops.

Thankfully it is not a lot heavier as the screen uses LED backlighting, which is not only slimmer and lighter than older technologies, but also allows for improved battery life thanks to more efficient power consumption.

Windows 7 Home Premium is preinstalled and because it has a 64 bit Intel processor running at 1.9GHz, you get the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

3GB of onboard RAM is also included, although the operating system and hardware can support far more if you want to upgrade at a later date, with a maximum of 8GB installable. Powering the pixels on the screen is an Intel graphics chip, which can be given over 1GB of shared memory, allowing for a fairly decent performance in games and great quality video playback.

With an HDMI output the Presario CQ71-401SA can be easily connected to an HDTV if you want to view your media on an even larger screen and there is a good selection of software bundled with this package to get you started.
