Features
A 10.1 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor records exceptional dynamic images with high detail and true-to-life colours. Advanced design and smooth noise reduction provide exceptional results across the whole ISO range.
The Canon EOS 40D can capture a continuous run of up to 75 images at a rate of 6.5 frames per second (large JPEG size). Images can be reviewed in clear, vibrant colour on the Canon EOS 40D’s impressive 3.0” LCD screen. Live View Mode lets you compose from difficult angles with ease by turning the LCD into a viewfinder. When assessing your results, a handy 10x magnification allows you to zoom in and check focus and image details.
The Canon EOS 40D is a camera built to endure even the most challenging of shooting conditions. A robust magnesium alloy construction with environmental seals ensures that the camera and its contents are protected at all times.
A Video Out connection lets you display your images on a TV screen while USB 2.0 out provides high speed data transfer between camera and computer.
Advanced Technology
Sophisticated 14-bit processing and advanced image handling is provided by Canon’s DIGIC III processor. The DIGIC III ensures fast, intuitive camera responses and reduced energy consumption, allowing you to shoot for longer.
The Canon EOS 40D incorporates Canon’s groundbreaking Integrated Cleaning System, a unique combination of innovative features that work in harmony to eliminate dust and deliver particle free images. Part of the system is a Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit that uses vibration to remove dust from the sensor every time the camera is turned on.
A 9-point auto focus system gives fast accurate focusing no matter where your subject is located in-frame.
Image Control
As well as delivering full manual control, the Canon EOS 40D features a range of Picture Style shooting presets. Each preset offers different colour parameters and can be fully customised to suit all shooting requirements.

Compatibility with a range of over 60 EF/EF-S lenses and EX Series Speedlite flashes expands the creative potential of the Canon EOS 40D. Available separately, the WFT-E3 Wireless File Transmitter lets you shoot and transfer files wirelessly.
