Benefits of Wireless Headsets
Wireless headsets are an asset in the home or office, for use with phones, MP3 players, DVDs and computers to name a few. There are numerous advantages to using wireless headsets.
One of the most obvious user benefits is the freedom to roam that wireless headsets offer. Many models are available with a roaming distance of up to 100 metres, making multi-tasking around the house, garden or office easier to achieve. For use with mobile phones, wireless headsets are essential for keeping in touch with calls, with features such as calls missed and on/off buttons.
A recent survey into the use of wireless headsets in office workers in relation to phone use provides strong evidence that there is a reduction in upper back, neck and shoulder muscle tension of approximately 41%. Tests were done on workers who multi-tasked, note taking, reading and typing while operating a phone. Results showed that a 36.5% muscle tension reduction occurred, while typists found a 31.4% reduction.
A further study confirmed that workplace efficiency and productivity is improved by a staggering 43% when wireless headsets are in use. Knock on benefits include healthier, happier workers with less absenteeism from the workplace as well as smaller medical costs.
Another health benefit achieved via the use of wireless headsets is improved posture. Phone neck, a condition resulting from cradling a phone handset in the neck, is avoided. In addition the use of wireless headsets removes the strain on the hand when a handset is used for extended periods of time.
In the workplace, particularly in call centres, the use of wireless headsets reduces customer hang ups caused by poor quality transmission, increases call completion rates and thus reduces call back costs. Back ground noise can be considerably reduced by up to 95% with a good quality microphone. In this case, binaural wireless headsets are useful, whereas a monaural headset is more useful when the user needs to hear what is going on in the immediate environment.
Customer interruptions are eliminated as the caller remains in touch while searching files, types or moves to another room. Many wireless headsets include a silent mute feature which eliminates noises such as coughs and sneezes enhancing the professional image.
When used in conjunction with a mobile phone the most obvious benefit of wireless headset use that springs to mind is whilst driving. A wireless headset allows for hands free use as well as keeping the driver within the law and avoiding a £60 fine. Important calls do not have to be missed while on the road and the driver does not have to waste precious driving time by pulling over to take or make a call. Driver distraction is reduced and there are no cables to get tangled up in.
Another benefit of using a wireless headset is particularly relevant to gamers. The sound and microphone quality is considerably more clear and precise than with corded headsets and earpieces provide comfort to the user, especially during extended use.
